Additional Scheduled Maintenance

Item Interval Notes
Timing belt/chain 120,000–210,000 km (belt) / lifetime (chain) Check owner's manual for your engine — critical, failure = engine damage
Transmission fluid 60,000 km (DSG) / lifetime (manual) DSG requires scheduled changes
Coolant Every 5 years or per service indicator Full flush and replace
Brake discs ~60,000–80,000 km Depends on driving style; check with pad changes
Battery 3–5 years Test annually after 3 years; heat shortens battery life
Wiper blades 6–12 months Replace more often in dusty/hot conditions
A/C service Every 2 years Re-gas and check for leaks; important in Israeli climate

MOT / Teste (טסט)

Israeli annual vehicle inspection:

  • Due annually from the vehicle's registration anniversary
  • Book at an authorised testing station (מכון רישוי)
  • Ensure all lights, brakes, tyres, emissions, and safety equipment are in order before going
  • Required documents: vehicle registration (רישיון רכב), insurance certificate (ביטוח חובה)
  • The car must pass to renew registration

Common Teste Failure Points

  • Worn tyres (below 1.6mm tread)
  • Faulty bulbs
  • Cracked windscreen in driver's line of sight
  • Worn brake pads/discs
  • Exhaust leaks or emissions failure
  • Steering play
  • Fluid leaks

Keeping Records

  • Keep all service receipts and invoices
  • Record mileage at each service
  • Note any parts replaced and their warranty
  • This protects resale value and ensures warranty compliance
