  5. Order bulk items if running low

Bulk Buying

  • Buy in bulk: rice, pasta, canned goods, olive oil, cleaning supplies
  • Don't bulk buy: fresh spices (lose potency), untried items
  • Storage: sealed containers (prevents pests)
  • Where: Rami Levy and Osher Ad for bulk prices

Pre-Holiday Stocking

  • Rosh Hashana: honey, apples, pomegranates, round challah
  • Sukkot: extra food (guests common)
  • Chanukah: oil, potatoes, sufganiyot ingredients
  • Pesach: completely separate — see Pesach prep
  • Purim: baking supplies for mishloach manot

Notes

Israeli Context: Tahini, za'atar, baharat, couscous, and olive oil are non-negotiable staples. Israeli cottage cheese (קוטג') is a fridge staple that should never run out. Keep schug and amba if you like them.
