Bed Linen Rotation & Seasonal Bedding

Purpose

Maintain fresh, clean bedding through regular rotation and manage seasonal bedding swaps for comfort throughout Jerusalem's climate.

Weekly Linen Change

  • Sunday: Strip and wash bed linens (aligned with Weekly Cleaning Schedule)
  • Rotate between at least 2 sets of sheets per bed
  • Wash linens at 60°C for hygiene
  • For Ezra's crib: change sheets weekly minimum, immediately if soiled

Ezra's Bedding

Item Change Frequency
Crib sheet Weekly; immediately if wet/soiled
Sleep sack 2x per week
Mattress protector Every 2 weeks; immediately if wet
Blanket (if used) Weekly

Seasonal Bedding Swaps

Summer (May–September)

  • Light cotton or bamboo sheets
  • Single lightweight blanket or just a sheet
  • Remove heavy duvet — store in vacuum bag
  • Ezra: lightweight sleep sack (0.5–1 tog)

Winter (November–March)

  • Flannel or brushed cotton sheets
  • Heavy duvet or doubled blankets
  • Extra blanket at foot of bed for cold nights
  • Ezra: warm sleep sack (2.5 tog)

Transition (April, October)

  • Standard cotton sheets
  • Medium-weight blanket or light duvet
  • Ezra: medium sleep sack (1–2 tog)

Swap Procedure (Twice Yearly)

  1. Wash all seasonal items before storing
  2. Store off-season bedding in vacuum bags or sealed bins
  3. Label bags/bins by season and bed
  4. Retrieve and wash new-season bedding before first use

Pillow & Mattress Care

  • Wash pillows: every 3 months
  • Replace pillows: every 1-2 years
  • Pillow protectors: use them; wash monthly
  • Rotate mattress: every 3 months (head to foot)
  • Vacuum mattress: quarterly when changing sheets
  • Ezra: no pillow until age 2+

Notes

Israeli Context: Jerusalem has a real winter — nights near 0°C December–February. A proper winter duvet matters. In summer, nights rarely drop below 20°C, so minimal bedding is fine. Line-drying sheets in Jerusalem sun naturally sanitizes them.
