SOP-FA054 · 🩺 First Aid

Recovery position technique for unconscious, breathing children in Israel. Children aged 1-8 use the standard lateral recovery position; infants under 1 year are held face-down on the rescuer's forearm. Purpose is to maintain an open airway, facilitate drainage of secretions, and reduce aspiration risk. Apply when: When a child is unconscious but breathing normally and has no suspected spinal injury. The recovery position maintains an open airway, facilitates drainage of secretions, and reduces the risk of aspiration. Do NOT use if spinal injury is suspected — stabilise the spine instead.
