Red Alert Readiness: Day & Night

⚠️ Important v1.0

Purpose

Stay ready to leave the apartment instantly when a Red Alert siren sounds. Our building has no Mamad (residential safe room) or Mamak (floor safe room), so we must reach an external shelter within the time available.

Daytime Readiness Posture

On Your Person

  • Phone is ON, volume ON, location services ON — Red Alert app installed and configured
  • Red Alert browser extension active if at the computer
  • Keys on your person — never leave locked inside
  • Wallet and ID (Teudat Zehut) on person or in go bag
  • Wearing closed-toe shoes suitable for running (not sandals or slippers)
  • Glasses or contacts on if needed

Go Bag & Exit Route

  • Baby carrier by front door, ready to grab (hands-free evacuation is faster than stroller)
  • Go bag packed and positioned by the front door
  • Daily bag check completed: medications, charged torch, water bottle, phone charger, ID copy
  • Hallway and exit route clear of obstructions — no furniture, shoes, or items blocking the path
  • Front door can be opened quickly — not double-locked or chain-latched

Situational Awareness

  • Nearest 3 shelters: locations known and routes verified (walked recently; know backup if primary is locked)
  • Time to shelter for our area: known and memorised
  • Protected space priority order understood: Shelter > Inner stairwell > Inner room
  • Children/dependents: know their current location
  • News/situation scan completed — check every 3 hours; adjust posture if escalation detected

Nighttime Readiness Posture

Before Bed Setup

  • News/situation scan completed before bed — assess if safe to sleep at home tonight
  • Phone charging, volume ON, location services ON — Red Alert app active, Do Not Disturb disabled
  • Clothes laid out by bed: full outfit ready to throw on in seconds
  • Closed-toe shoes positioned by bed, ready to step into
  • Torch/flashlight within arm's reach (on nightstand, not buried in go bag)
  • Glasses positioned by bed if needed — same spot every night
  • Keys accessible in a known location

Go Bag & Exit Route

  • Baby carrier by front door, ready to grab
  • Go bag packed and positioned by front door
  • Infant supplies in go bag: pacifier, bottle/formula, nappies, wipes, muslin/blanket
  • Medications in go bag if applicable
  • Power bank on charge, ready to grab (near go bag or by front door)
  • Hallway and exit route clear — can navigate in the dark without tripping
  • Front door can be opened quickly — not double-locked

Sleep Conditions

  • No earplugs — hearing must be clear to hear the siren and phone alert
  • Protected space priority order understood
  • Route to nearest shelter known and walkable in the dark — have you walked it at night?
