Oil menorah keeps going out in drafty apartment: Use glass wind guards/chimneys over each oil cup. Close windows near the menorah. If persistent, switch to wax candles which are more wind-resistant.
Ezra fascinated by the flames and keeps approaching: Reinforce the physical barrier. Use distraction — give Ezra their own toy menorah (battery-operated LED). Light when Ezra is engaged in another activity. Never rely on verbal warnings alone with a toddler.
Wax dripping onto windowsill or furniture: Use a larger tray underneath. Apply aluminum foil to the surface first. For existing wax damage, use ice to harden and scrape, or a hair dryer to soften and wipe.
Running out of olive oil or wicks mid-Chanukah: Jerusalem has 24-hour mini-markets and late-night shops that stock Chanukah supplies throughout the holiday. Gas station convenience stores are a reliable backup.
