Anaphylaxis & Allergic Reaction

Recognise and treat anaphylaxis in children using epinephrine auto-injector, call MDA 101, and monitor until EMS arrives. Apply when: Child showing signs of severe allergic reaction: any combination of skin symptoms (hives, swelling of face/lips/tongue), respiratory symptoms (wheezing, stridor, throat tightness, difficulty breathing, hoarse voice or changed cry), cardiovascular symptoms (weak/rapid pulse, pallor, cyanosis, confusion, loss of consciousness), gastrointestinal symptoms (vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain), or behavioural changes (sudden irritability, inconsolable crying, refusal to eat, clinging behaviour, pulling at ears or scratching). Any involvement of breathing, circulation, or consciousness indicates anaphylaxis — do not wait.
